Pumpkin Spice Everything will soon give way to Cranberry Sauce Everything – and the yummiest time of the year, Thanksgiving.
Besides being delicious, turkeys are famous for nearly becoming the National Bird and their waddles…which only look good on them. Necks and their “waddles” are common complaints of men and women of a “certain age.”
As you age, you see loose skin, jowls and horizontal creases creeping up on you, conspiring to make you look older than your age and tweeking your self-confidence.
One of the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, the neck lift (also known as a cervicoplasty or platysmaplasty) is an appealing alternative to living with waddles.
What is a neck lift?
A neck lift tightens the underlying skin and muscles of your neck and improves the contour of your jawline. During the procedure, Dr. Guarnieri will make a small incision behind the chin and sometimes behind the ears. Excess skin is removed and the neck muscles are tightened.
During your consultation
- Before your consultation appointment, it’s important to consider your goals and clarify your expectations. You may have had discussions with relatives or friends who have had the procedure or have read about it in magazines or news articles. This is a popular procedure but everyone is different.
- During your consultation, your options will be explained and your expectations discussed.
- Keep in mind that in order to have any surgical procedure, you must be in good, over-all health.
- If you are taking any medications or have health concerns, be sure to bring those to our attention.
What to expect after neck lift surgery
Following your surgery, as with any cosmetic surgical procedure, you will have some down time. It may take a few weeks for the swelling to go down and the incisions to fade, but after that, you should see a more youthful, tighter looking neck.
Consider taking time off work, arrange for help at home if possible, and avoid vigorous exercise and heavy lifting for a few weeks. Take it easy…this is a time to pamper yourself.
Look forward to loving your neck in time for Thanksgiving!
